About the Port of Drammen
The port of Drammen is one of Norway’s most efficient logistics and transportation hubs connecting sea, rail, and road. As a multimodal hub for goods handling, the port of Drammen operates across five primary segments: rolling cargo (RoRo), dry bulk, liquid bulk, containers, and project cargo.
The port of Drammen, owned by the municipalities of Drammen, Lier, and Asker, stands as one of Norway’s most efficient and integral logistic and transportation hubs.
The port is to make a positive contribution to the development of the city, as well as being an important contributor to environmental development.
The Port of Drammen is centrally located in the southeastern part of Norway and has a customer base of two million people within a radius of ten miles.
We aim to be the best intermodal port in the southeast of Norway and to maintain our role as a community builder in the municipalities of Drammen, Lier and Asker. Since the Port of Drammen is one of the main network ports in Norway, we are a central part of the infrastructure for eco-friendly transportation to and from the region.
For several decades, the port has been Norway’s largest port for car imports, but the port is also used to ship containers, offshore installations, steel, wet and dry bulk as well as general cargo.
The following ports are served weekly by container lines and Ro-Ro lines: Bremerhaven, Rotterdam, Esbjerg, Southampton, Zeebrugge, Immingham, Tyne, Helsinki, Tallinn, Klaipeda and Szczecin.
After the Coastal Administration completed the deepening of the Svelvik Stream in 2008 and invested 150 million NOK in upgrading the fairway to Drammen, arrangements have also been made for more cost-effective and eco-friendly sea transportation to and from the region.

The history of the Port of Drammen
Drammen emerged from the river, and there is no doubt that the city’s location has made it a natural port area for several centuries.
