Polaris Autoliners, a specialized roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) logistics provider, has expanded its global transport network with a new route from Bremerhaven to Drammen and Oslo. This new route marks a significant milestone for the shipping company, which had its first shipment to Drammen last month.
Access to the Norwegian market
Alexander Kfoury, Head of Operations and Trade at Polaris Autoliners, co-founded the company back in 2022. Kfoury states that the new route is an important step for the company’s access to the Norwegian market.
– The new route strengthens our presence in Norway and will help meet our customers’ demands and needs. The Port of Drammen is Norway’s most important gateway for cars and RoRo imports and a strategic location for exporting a wide range of products, from breakbulk and project cargo to vehicles. Norway is an exciting market, especially considering the high proportion of electric vehicles, says Kfoury.
Global Fleet
Polaris Autoliners is based in London and operates a fleet of six ships globally. The company already offers routes connecting Europe to the Mediterranean region, Asia, Australia, and America.
– Our advantage lies in fixed routes and schedules, as well as offering customized solutions for seamless transport. Our plan is to offer three calls per month between Bremerhaven and the Port of Drammen. Eventually, this route will also include a stop in Belgium on the route to Norway, Kfoury adds.
Increased activity in Drammen
The Port of Drammen is Norway’s largest port for car imports, receiving over 70 percent of all cars imported into the country. In addition to vehicles, other types of RoRo cargo are transported to and from the port, such as machinery and equipment for the construction industry or various project components. On average, the Port of Drammen handles 3–4 calls from RoRo-ships (car carriers) weekly.
– We warmly welcome Polaris Autoliners. Their new route strengthens our continued focus on the car import and RoRo-segment and generates further activity at the port, says Ivar Vannebo, Assistant Port Director at the Port of Drammen.
